Administrative Pastor
(Full-Time)
We are seeking an Administrative Pastor to support the Interim Rector and Vestry by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the parish and working with the parish staff and key volunteers to support the implementation of the parish’s ministry programs and strategic initiatives as we prepare for a new permanent rector following the resignation of our prior rector. The Administrative Pastor role will be engaged for a one-year period and it will be re-evaluated at that time.
While ordination is not required, the ideal candidate would be an ordained priest in good standing within the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) able to periodically preach and preside during worship services and able to provide pastoral care as needed under the direction of the Interim Rector.
The Administrative Pastor will not be a candidate for the Interim Rector position.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the parish’s day-to-day operations and serve as the central coordinator of parish programs and activities
Oversee the missional work of all non-pastoral staff and volunteers including by:
planning and leading weekly parish staff/key volunteer meetings
leading recurring 1:1 meetings with each staff member and key volunteer - supporting ministry planning, coordination, administration and professional development
coordinating with volunteer team leads to provide guidance and ensure availability of resources and training
handling recruiting, training, supervision and other HR-related tasks
providing pastoral care to non-pastoral staff and volunteers under the guidance of the Interim Rector
Assist the Deacon, Worship Director, Liturgical Coordinator and lay volunteers in implementing the Interim Rector’s vision for worship services
Under direction of Interim Rector, support implementation of prayer ministry, congregational care ministry and adult and youth formation activities such as adult catechism class, Youth Alpha, neighborhood groups, and discipleship programs
Lead the parish’s relationships with local ministry and community partners, oversee volunteer-led ministries, and coordinate outreach activities
Manage the church calendar and plan and coordinate events surrounding Sunday worship services (e.g., organizing parish lunches and celebrations, special classes, etc.) and other large-scale church events (e.g., newcomer events, retreats, parties, etc.)
Attend monthly Vestry meetings and work with parish staff to ensure implementation of all Vestry decisions
Coordinate with Treasurer and Business Director regarding budget, bills and expenditures, with Facilities Coordinator regarding building maintenance, equipment, IT and security, and with communications consultants regarding parish newsletters, website, social media and other communications
As assigned by the Interim Rector, periodically preach and preside at worship services (including weekly services, occasional mid-week gatherings and special events) and provide pastoral care
Requirements
Personal Faith and Theological Alignment: A grounded faith in Jesus Christ, theologically and missionally aligned with the vision and values of Incarnation, C4SO and ACNA.
Leadership Experience: Demonstrated gifts in leadership, organization and administration with at least 5 years’ work experience in a parish or another Christian ministry setting.
Servant Leadership: Humble and reliable with a passion for serving the church community. Relational and supportive of the culture of hospitality in our church. Collaborative and delegative leadership approach designed to bring people together and encourage skill development in others.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master of Divinity and/or degree in business administration preferred.
