The word Advent means "coming" or "arrival." In the season of Advent, we prepare for Christ's Second coming while also getting ready to celebrate Christ's first coming at Christmas. Christmas is coming soon. We'll all have lots of things to prepare, but what about our spiritual preparation? What would it look like for us to prepare him room in our lives? During this season of Advent, we invite you into a season of joyful preparation and expectancy. The Church prepares for Christmas with Advent in a similar way to how she prepares for Easter with Lent. We aren’t ready to celebrate the birth of a savior until we have spent time preparing our hearts, lives, and community to receive our Savior. One of the ways we are going to enter into this preparation is through studying the book of Colossians together and allowing the scriptures to examine our lives. Mother Janna is going to offer a class, just before church for the four Sundays of Advent, focused on the book of Colossians. We invite you to come a little early for church and lean into the scriptures this Advent season.
