Holy Saturday 2024
“Something strange is happening. There is a great silence on earth today—a great silence and stillness. The whole earth keeps silence because the King is asleep. The earth trembled and is still because God has fallen asleep in the flesh and He has raised up all who have slept ever since the world began.”
So begins an ancient homily for Holy Saturday. We often miss this day, thinking it just a pause between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. But what a pregnant pause it is. We began Lent remembering that we will die. We conclude it in wonder for what it means that Jesus joins us even in that very dust and darkness.
We will gather for Morning Prayer, and Julie Hilton will share a reflection on this mysterious day.
