Palm Sunday 2024
“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
We sing these words every time we come to the table for the Eucharist, but this Sunday, as we enter into Holy Week, we join the crowds greeting Jesus in his arrival into Jerusalem, parading and waving palm branches. Holy Week invites us with our voices and bodies to dramatically participate in the final week of Jesus’ life. We will begin service outside under the pergola, where we will prepare to process into the church.
After this “liturgy of the palms,” celebrating Jesus’ triumphal entry, we enter the church and shift into the “liturgy of the passion,” remembering that the Lord we crowned king on Palm Sunday is the same Lord that we crucified as a criminal on Good Friday.
We especially invite children to celebrate with us on Palm Sunday. Consider bringing a wagon or stroller if you have little ones. To prepare for the procession, you can listen to our Palm Sunday hymn here.
